Clothes, Coffee & Conversation
Café Myriade’s Club Monaco location is where gorgeous clothes, amazing coffee, delightful pastries and beautiful décor live together harmoniously.
One of my favorite things to do on days off on tour is to explore the city with my tour family. We take in the sights, get some exercise in and almost always end up at a local coffee shop, which my coffee connoisseur colleague Evan Eade is excellent at finding (check out his Instagram for international recommendations).
So imagine my delight when I found out Montreal had a spot that mixed three of my favorite things – fashion, travel and coffee. This spot turned out to be Club Monaco. Which I LOVE for wardrobe staples. Their clothes stand the test of time, style and quality wise. And the coffee was made by Café Myriade, which I had heard was the go-to for the fashion crowd, hipsters and lovers of good local coffee (They have two other locations in the trendy downtown area).
The collaboration happened in December 2014, so it’s fairly new and is located within Club Monaco’s Rue Saint Catherine store. Which I’d compare to Dover Street in London, 5th Avenue in New York, Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles and Orchard Street in Singapore.
The coffee was great. I had a cappuccino and Evan had an espresso shot and a V60 pour over. The croissants were delish and comparable to ones I’ve had in Paris. They had other pastries and cookies, which looked equally as tasty, but I didn’t try those. The décor was very elegant, classy. Everything from the cups, to the tables and even the selection of books they had on the shelves were all very well thought through and sourced from local businesses. It’s very apparent a lot of thought was put into the aesthetics and general vibe of the store. The staff were also very friendly and even let me charge my dying iPhone behind the counter. Big gold star for that!! And I got to pick up a few pieces to add to my spring wardrobe. A total win, win situation.
I’ve already decided that this will be a new tradition of mine when I’m in Montreal. Coffee and shopping go very well together. I’d love to hear any suggestions on places you love to visit for coffee around the world. Feel free to share them in the comments box below
